A Blog is one of the best Internet and Network Marketing Tools you can use for your home business. Over a number of posts, I’m going to give you seven reasons why WordPress.org is such a great tool.
For those who are very new to blogging, “WordPress.org” is a platform on which you can very simply and easily create your own website. A blog is just another kind of website, except that it’s much easier to create and update. You don’t need a web designer to make your blog look professional, the WordPress developers have made it easy for you to do that by yourself.
There are 2 main platforms for creating your MLM Blog:
1) One where you require your own Web Hosting and Domain Name, and the Blog is completely under your control. Examples of these are: WordPress.org, Movable Type and TypePad.
2) One where your blog is controlled by a web hosting community. Examples of these are Blogger, WordPress.com (notice this is different from WordPress.org), Wetpaint, Squidoo, Mindsay and numerous others.
When I speak of WordPress.org, I’m referring to the WordPress that you install on your own Web hosting. This is different from WordPress.com (which is NOT under your control).
Reason 1 for Using WordPress: Google Lists your Blog Quickly
It’s really easy to get listed on google for your keywords, even with just a little knowledge of keywords and Search engine optimization. Notice I said “listed” on google. It takes a little more work to get your blog on the first page of google, especially if you have chosen competitive keywords. So, make sure you do your keyword research before you even choose your domain name.
How to Get Your Blog Indexed on Google Quickly
The best way to get your blog indexed quickly, is to submit your blog’s RSS feed to certain websites.
Here’s the Steps to Take:
- Change your Permalink Settings as shown in the Diagram below.
- From Dashboard of your Blog, go to Settings, Permalinks
- Select “Custom Structure” and type in this: %postname%
See Diagram below:

- Get your RSS Feed URL: Now that you have your Permalink Structure in place, you can find your blog’s RSS feed. You can get it by adding the following text to your domain name: /feed
- On the Address bar of your browser, type in your domain name.
- Put your Mouse Cursor at the end of your domain name.
- Type in the following, then press Enter
/feed - Here’s an image of what I typed into the Browser Address bar, after the domain name of my blog:

- Copy your blog’s RSS feed URL, then paste it into Notepad or a Text Editor
- Now it’s time to submit that RSS feed to a number of services that keep track of Blogs and publish them. By doing that, you will notify the services that your blog has been updated (or exists if it’s the first time you’ve done this). They will crawl and index your site, publish your blog contents, and therefore increase your blog’s popularity.
- Go to Pingoat.com fill in your details at the top, select your services, then Click on the “Go Pingoat” button.
- Within a few hours or maybe a day, your new blog will appear in the search engines.
- Here’s more detailed instructions for obtaining your blog’s RSS Feed URL:
The next day – after submitting your feed….
Look in Google’s index to see if your Blog is listed. To find your blog:
- Go to the Google Search Engine at Google.com
In the Search box, type in the following:
site:yourblogurl.com (see image below for an illustration of what to do)
After clicking on the Google Search button, your Blog should be displayed in Google’s listing. If it’s NOT displayed come back here and leave a comment, along with the URL of your blog. I will have a look at your blog for you and let you know why I think it’s not listed.
Have fun with this, and let me know in the comments how long it took for your blog to get listed.

Hi Julieanne,
This is great information fro a beginner.
ONe tip I used is to create 20 videos for the keywords you want to be found under. Then create a blog post for each keyword and include the video in the post.
I did this and a year later I had over 100 visitors a day. A week ago I had 200 in a day and I haven’t posted much content lately.
My contribution is that getting found on google, while it can happen in a day and then you disapear, takes the right action and time.

Julieanne this is a great post for newbie bloggers. I love using Wordpress so much. They have plugins for almost everything you can think of.
What an excellent tutorial Julieanne – I wish I’d had access to something like this when I first started out. There’s so much to learn when you first start so it really makes a big difference to work with professionals. Thanks!
