Why Bother Generating Your Own List of Prospects?

You might be wondering why you need to generate your own list of prospects and follow up with them? Here’s some of the reasons why….    

• It’s much easier to build trust and rapport with prospects that have opted into whatever you’re offering them.
• You will make more money once you have your own list because you can sell to them over and over without “cold calling”.
• It’s easier to build a relationship with your own list, than with a list of prospects you’ve purchased. To get results with a purchased list, you really need to be comfortable with “cold calling” people who don’t know you.    Some people are great with “cold calling”, but it takes some practice. If you generate your own list, you can build a relationship with people and they will often call you and/or purchase your products without even speaking to you.

Steps Toward Building Your List

1. Identify who your Market is – Who will you sell your products/services to?
2. Create or Find Content (Products and Services) for your chosen Market
3. Build Your Marketing Funnel (see below for more about this)
4. Drive visitors from your market to your marketing funnel and Follow up with those who Request what you’re offering

Before creating your marketing funnel, you should write down on a piece of paper, exactly what your marketing funnel will look like. This will make it much easier to implement your funnels.

Step 1: Visitors come to your website – write on your plan some ideas for how you’ll get visitors to your website.

Step 2:   Offer your visitors something free so they will “opt in” to your  list.   Write down some ideas for  Free things you can offer to your visitors.

Step 3: Immediately after your visitors have opted in to your Offer,  show them a Thank you or Sales page.    Write down on your plan,  what you will show on your Thank you/Sales page.

Step 4: Follow up with people who opted into your list.    Send “follow up” and broadcast message to your list,  to build a relationship and to sell them your products and services.

So… this is what your marketing funnel looks like.   Here are some action steps to take, toward creating your  own funnel.

1. Identify your market.
2. Create or Find a product to sell and to give away.
3. Prepare some messages in your Follow up campaign
4. Create a Lead Capture page for your Visitors to “opt in” to your list.
5. Create or prepare your Sales page and/ or Thank you page.
