So… is commenting a good thing or a bad thing?
The answer is…. it depends on how you do it.
If you just write a very short kind of lame comment saying something like “love your article it’s very good”, then you’re not going to get much traffic going back to your blog.
However, if you make meaningful comments on other people’s blogs, and people see those comments as valuable, you will get a lot more visitors wanting to visit your blog and find out more information.
How Your Comments Can Lead to Better Visitors to Your Blog
If you post meaningful comments on other people’s blogs, you can build much better relationships with visitors to those blogs. When you take the time to contribute to that blog by commenting in a way that contributes to the conversation – more people will value your comment.
Getting bookmarks, re-tweets, links and social media “likes” and votes is the way that content spreads – that’s they way you get decent traffic that really matters.
Is it Important to Be the First Commentator?
Being the first to comment on a blog, especially an influential blog, can get you more visitors back to your blog.
However, if you have to watch your Google alerts or Google Reader most of the day (or night), to be the first, do you think it’s really worth it? Isn’t it better to focus on creating your own great content?
That’s my opinion, would love to read what you think in the comments below…

Hey Julieanne,
Great post! And I am surprised that you haven't had more comments on it lol. Maybe everyone is scared of not making a useful comment.
I totally agree with everything you say. I get a large quantity of traffic from blogs that I have commented on and I would recommend that everyone spends a few dedicated hours a week getting there comments and presence noticed.
The more present we are the more successful we will be.
Yours In Success,
Beth
Hi Beth, thanks for coming here! A lot of people are using “comment Luv” also, I still like the Disqus system best. bye for now, Julieanne
Hi Julieanne,
Yes, well when you think about it, leaving a comment like, ‘yeah that’s good’ or ‘I enjoyed your story’ isn’t helping anyone or giving the person reading your comment any reason to visit your blog because they’re not inspired to do so.
It’s like, if you see someone walking down the street really slowly, dragging their feet and looking absolutely lathargic, do you run up to them and say, ‘hey can I be your friend, you look like a real fun guy and I’d like to hang out with you?
On the other hand if I read an interesting comment I think ‘wow, i want to read more of this guy’s stuff’ and then go to his blog and so on.
cheers
John

Hi John, I totally agree, it’s the “energy” in the comment that counts also!
