Have you tried talking to lots of people about your opportunity?
And… they couldn’t care less about it!
Or.. they are very polite and pretend they’re interested,
but make lots of excuses.
That’s probably because they didn’t want it in the first place:-)
Some years ago, my upline convinced me I really should m’arket offline as well as online.
So, I thought it might be fun to work with people locally,
and he made it sound pretty easy.
I belonged to a swimming club, so thought I would start there.
One day when I went swimming, I took the biz opp DVD along and asked
one of the guys if he would have a look at it, and tell me what he thought.
He said “of course I’ll look at it for you Julieanne”.
He put it in his bag and off we went doing our swimming laps!
That was easy!
I told him I would call in a few days to see what he thought.
(That wasn’t easy at all)
His wife answered the phone, she wasn’t very friendly, but she put him on the line. And, I asked him that dreaded question.
“What did you think of the movie?”
He said “So, that’s what you’re doing is it?
I’m not interested in starting a b’usiness, but the products look really good.
Can you bring a sample along to the next swim meeting?”
I rocked up to the barbecue we had after swimming,
with a little cooler to keep the products cool. He tried the product
in front of everyone else, and in a really loud voice said..
“you know, people tell me snake oil makes you healthy too“.
It was sooo embarassing and he had no intention of
buying the product.
Anyway…. to cut a long story short,
I didn’t have much fun speaking to people who weren’t asking for information in the first place.
That’s why I LOVE Internet Marketing because you can target
your marketing towards people who ARE actually looking
for what you have to offer.
There are millions of people searching online for solutions
to their problems. And, I’m sure your product or
service will provide a solution for many of those searchers.
That gives you a huge audience, much bigger and
more targeted than the people you know.
So… if you’re going to m’arket your products or service online,
the most important thing to do before anything else is:
Decide WHO YOUR Target Market is.
And, base your decision on what you’re passionate about,
because this will make it fun and exciting for you!
So….. what’s your story about contacting people “out of the blue” who haven’t
asked for your product or service?
Do you have an embarrassing story or a good one to tell?

Hi Julieanne!
I loved your story! I think we've all been through something similar to this, I had established what I thought was a great relationship with a girl who was a personal trainer and worked in my local grocery store doing wine tastings.
I assumed that when she told me of her husband's employment problems that she might be interested in hearing about a business opportunity, which she was at first until she realized it was network marketing, and she said, loudly enough for everyone around to hear ' I must have MLM stamped on my forehead! ' and went on to say other things about approaching everyone in sight as so many network marketers do feel compelled to do … Of course I too was morbidly embarrassed!
Anyway, using attraction marketing online is the only thing that makes sense, and completely turned the tables around to have people to talk with who you KNOW are interested in this industry and know the value in it! What a relief!
Thanks for sharing your story, and making the point that can't be overstated, internet marketing is where it's at!
Wishing You Brilliant Success!
Vicki
Hi Vicki, thanks for sharing your story, it sounds even more embarrassing than mine! I think all of us have fallen into the same “trap”. Our intentions are good and all we want to do is help the other person. And, no-one wants help unless they're looking for it.
One thing I love about attraction marketing also, is that we can share this stuff with others who understand, and all help each other out.
Have a terrific day or evening Vicki, whichever it is for you in your part of the world!
Julieanne
Hi Julieanne,
I really enjoyed your post. It was easy to read and I liked the way you told the story.
I'm just starting to blog. I added my first post but I haven't published it yet. I have a lot more to do.
I look forward to reading more of your posts.
Blessings,
Shirley Hoke
Hi Shirley welcome and thanks for your feedback! I look forward to seeing your blog, make sure to come back and tell us when you've published it! bye for now, Julieanne
Yes, I'm sure we've all had our moments when we've offered someone a brochure or sample of our new 'best ever' business or product.
I myself have had the feeling that I've turned up at a total stranger's place, let myself in the door and now I'm wondering why they're looking at me and backing away as if I smell bad, maybe it's because they didn't invite me into their home in the first place.
The trouble is when people are confronted by an over excited, usually babbling person waving their 'best ever' product their face they understandably get annoyed and back off.
The result for the person doing the prospecting can be that after repeating this over and over they sometimes begin to doubt their self worth and or product/ business opportunity.
Hi, Thanks for sharing your story and I did experience something like that. I like the Internet MLM concept but can’t figure out yet how to process the whole thing. I’ve seen so many scams on Internet and affiliated marketing where you only promote someone else… I wish to find a way to get more leads…
Hi Kathleen, there are lots of ways to get more leads, have you done some training in marketing? It will help a lot.
