The Online Media daily reports on some Forrester research of social computing prediction for 2010. Research found that “marketers will need to start justifying social marketing plans with business cases, objectives and metrics” reports the ONLINE Media Daily on Tuesday Dec 22, 2009. 2010 is going to be the year when Social Marketing gets really serious.

Another recent report from MarketingSherpa also believes that social marketing will blossom a lot more next year. Their report ranked “an increase in Website traffic” as the number 1 objective, with “improving brand or product reputation” as number 5 objective. You can read more on these 2 reports here

It will be interesting to see if Network marketers start getting more serious about social marketing. For network marketers to have success with this kind of marketing, you really need to have an understanding of building relationships online and also some patience in attracting people to business rather than “selling” to people in the more traditional way.

So…. what’s your opinion on the way Social Marketing will be used for Network Marketing in 2010?

Let's hope “improving brand or product reputation” does not involve more misguided attempts to “play” customer reviews ecosystem. Any marketers who entertain such a plan need to read how companies like Belkin and DeLonghi ended up destroying theirs when they try do it. Social Networking i believe is a necessary element in todays Network Marketing world. If you don't build your brand and your social presence you are leaving it in the hands of other people. In my opinion, the lack of a social presence will have a negative impact on your personal brand. The people that embrace the New Social Web will stand to benefit the most and those that dont wil be passed by. Just remember Social Sites are not the spot to Blast Spam and ads… Be a real person, connect and build your authority one person at a time.

Hey Julieanne,

I think that network marketers in general are starting to really grasp the concept of creating value through quality content and building relationships through giving generously.

Social media is the best thing that ever happened to this industry as there is no place for bad practices to hide! :)

Yes George! I agree with what you said 100%! Social media has turned the Internet into something more like we do offline. By that I mean we build relationships with people and talk to them.
